The All Progressives Congress(APC) commenced its 8th National Convention at Eagle Square in Abuja on Friday, drawing over 8,450 delegates from all 36 Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Territory for a two-day event described by party officials as critical ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The convention venue was adorned in the party's signature colours, with extensive security and logistical arrangements in place to ensure a smooth operation. Inside the main arena, proceedings began amidst a vibrant atmosphere, with delegates dressed in colourful traditional attire taking their seats.

The event, characterized by heightened security measures, saw the arrival of President Bola Tinubu alongside his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, who was warmly received by party leaders and supporters. The President was accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima and a significant number of state governors, underscoring the gathering's political significance.

Party officials highlighted the convention's focus on key objectives, including the election of a new National Working Committee through consensus, a comprehensive review of the party's performance, and the development of strategies to consolidate the administration's "Renewed Hope Agenda".
